Student Exchange 2016

Hi everyone, it’s been a loooooooong time i didnt write anything on this blog. hmmmmmm here I want to tell a lil’ bit of my experience during exchange. From the very first time I arrived in UUM, i don’t have enough word to explain. The first thing that came to my mind is “I wanna go back” this because of me and 4 of my friends have been stayed in Malaysia a week sooner than the others for joining Edutrip Program 2016. Thought that I still have time to go back to Indonesia and meet my parents, but I’m not.  Because of visa problem.  So yeah, in the middle of our trip me and 4 of my friends need to split up with others and went to UUM and stay there for 1 night to take care of some things. While waiting for the others  me and my friends went back to Kuala Lumpur for spent our time.  Actually, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) located in Sintok, Kedah. Which is in the Northern part of Malaysia and it took about 6 hours to reach by bus from Kuala Lumpur.

And the time has come we have to go back to UUM for orientation program and meet the other friends and also ibu Diah from Telkom University. During orientation we had so much things to do, and it was fun. The first day of our orientation we have to handle the administration, medical check-ups, etc. and tour around the campus while looking for the classroom that we will use for learning process.

Day by day, I really enjoyed being here. I met a few of friends that came from other countries and we shared some stories, also I met a a few kinds of lecturer that really friendly. Although UUM is located far from the city centre, UUM provides various facilities for us such as go-kart, swimming pool, badminton courts, football & basketball courts, golf, riding area, cano, student lounge in every dormitory, and so many more. And there is also Varsity Mall one of shopping centre in UUM, there is coffee shop, restaurant, laundry, supermarket in it. So we didn’t feel so bored if we can’t go anywhere on the weekend. UUM also provide a transportation (Bus) for take us to the lecture hall from dormitory. And it is free.

In this campus, study schedule and holiday quite balance but the lesson is quite different from Telkom University. We most likely study from case study and learn how to solve & analyze. And in this campus, it is quitely hard for us to get the high score, since we know that UUM is one of under government university in Malaysia that have specialization in business. we need an extra effort to reach the best result  by doing the assignment perfectly, deliver a good presentation, and also need to do the quiz and exam optimally that surely we need to study hard. A few of assignments is really difficult yet challenging but also it will be useful for us in work field.

Overall, study in UUM I could gain knowledge and skills in foreign language for being bilingual expert and also I could discover something new. it taught me how to avoid a gap that exist, how to adjust others culture because in here we most likely meet different people with different culture and also with different lifestyle so we getting to know their beliefs and learning to deal with differences. Besides, in exchange I could develop many academic & social skills that really important to my career. And for me, joining Student Exchange program is an integral part of my studies, I had an advantage of this valuable opportunity which is an outstanding opportunity to broaden my horizons and develop my personality. Thanks Telkom University for chose me as one of student that have chance for joining Student Exchange Program 2016.

My daily life for less than 6 months here really gave me a lessons to learn. I can be more confident in facing every problems that came into my life  and learn how to get through the twists and turns, ups & downs. All of these would be a big life experience for me as we know that “experience is the best teacher”.
